Tiffany Lee Rallies Past Bisera for Pueblo de Oro Crown

Tiffany Lee survived a disappearing four-shot advantage Wednesday before winning the ICTSI Pueblo de Oro Championship in Cagayan de Oro. The 18-year-old responded with three crucial back-nine birdies to defeat Order of Merit leader Yvon Bisera by two strokes.

Lee Watches Four-Shot Lead Disappear

Lee entered the final round carrying a four-stroke cushion, seemingly positioned for a controlled march toward her second professional championship. Early mistakes quickly changed that scenario as Bisera steadily reduced the advantage and eventually moved into serious title contention.

SunStar documented Lee’s recovery after her difficult front nine transformed the championship into a tense two-player battle. Instead of allowing the collapse to continue, the Manila-based Korean rediscovered her scoring touch when the tournament reached its decisive stretch.

Lost Advantage Tests Lee’s Competitive Response

Protecting a large lead presents different psychological pressure because mistakes can make players increasingly defensive as opponents approach. Lee eventually reversed that pattern by returning to attacking golf instead of attempting merely to prevent additional dropped shots.

Late Birdies Restore Lee’s Championship Control

Consecutive birdies on Nos. 14 and 15 brought Lee back to two-under and level with the charging Bisera. She then birdied the par-five 17th, reclaiming the outright advantage with only the closing hole remaining Wednesday.

Lee safely parred the 18th to complete an even-par 72 and finish the tournament at four-under 212. Her three-round total earned the championship and P162,500 while ending a two-year absence from the professional winner’s circle.

“I was already one down at that point, so I really needed to make a birdie and create a chance.”

Aggression Replaced Defensive Thinking

Lee’s decisive birdies arrived after her comfortable starting advantage had already disappeared, forcing her to chase again. That change may have simplified the situation psychologically because creating scoring opportunities became necessary rather than merely protecting an existing margin.

Bisera Pushes Championship to Final Hole

Bisera shot a two-under 70 to reach 214, placing sustained pressure upon Lee throughout the closing stages. She entered the 18th only one stroke behind and still possessed an opportunity to force a playoff with another strong finish.

The Davaoeña pulled her drive and missed the green with her second shot before failing to save par. Her closing bogey created the final two-stroke margin, ending another strong tournament without producing a third victory this season.

Runner-Up Still Strengthens Bisera’s Season

Bisera fell short of another championship, but repeated contention remains valuable within her season-long Order of Merit pursuit. Strong finishes accumulate earnings and reinforce consistency, making runner-up results considerably more meaningful than ordinary near-misses during a year-long points race.

Victory Ends Lee’s Two-Year Title Drought

Lee’s previous professional victory came during her debut at the ICTSI Splendido Taal Championship in 2024. She subsequently endured a difficult 2025 season where limited contention gradually created doubts about returning to the winner’s circle.

The Pueblo de Oro victory therefore carries significance beyond adding another trophy to the teenager’s developing professional record. Lee specifically described learning to concentrate upon controllable decisions rather than becoming consumed by opponents, results, and tournament pressure.

“This win is a great reward for all the days I have silently and continuously fought for.”

Mental Recovery Adds Value to Second Victory

Winning immediately after turning professional established Lee’s ability, but winning again after struggling tests a different competitive quality. Pueblo de Oro demonstrated she could rebuild confidence and execute under pressure after experiencing an extended period without championship contention.

Miñoza Takes Third as Ababa Finishes Fourth

Martina Miñoza completed the tournament at 220 following a final-round 71, securing third place behind Lee and Bisera. Sarah Ababa matched that 71 and finished fourth at 222, while Harmie Constantino placed fifth one stroke further behind.

Ace Superal captured low-amateur honors after finishing tied for 14th at 234 following a closing 76. Those results completed another Ladies Philippine Golf Tour event before the circuit continues through its decisive late-season Mindanao stretch.

Mindanao Swing Keeps Season Race Moving

Pueblo de Oro represents one stage of a compact closing schedule capable of quickly reshaping confidence and Order of Merit positions. Players must recover rapidly because another opportunity arrives before successful performances or disappointing finishes have much time to settle.

Analytical Breakdown

Lee’s victory became more impressive after her four-shot advantage disappeared because she needed to rebuild momentum under immediate pressure. Three late birdies showed championship aggression, particularly when protecting pars would no longer have been enough to defeat Bisera. For Bisera, another runner-up remains valuable because season-long consistency continues strengthening her Order of Merit position despite missing victory.
