FEU Women Rout NU to Stay Perfect in UAAP Football

Table of Content

Far Eastern University maintained its perfect UAAP Season 89 women’s football record Wednesday with a commanding 5-0 victory over National University. Five different scorers powered the Lady Tamaraws, who improved to 6-0 during another convincing performance at UP Diliman.

Egay Opens Scoring During Dominant First Half

Angel Egay opened FEU’s scoring during the 11th minute after Kyza Colina created the opportunity with a cross. Colina then became a scorer herself during the 28th, doubling the Lady Tamaraws’ advantage before NU could recover.

FEU Advocate’s Vince Matthew Jaramilla documented the Lady Tamaraws’ continued pressure throughout a first half dominated by the defending powerhouse. Althea Rebosura added another goal during the 39th minute, pushing FEU toward another comfortable halftime advantage.

Early Pressure Prevents NU From Settling

Scoring quickly allows dominant teams to dictate tempo while forcing opponents to abandon conservative approaches earlier than intended. FEU repeatedly exploited that advantage, maintaining attacking pressure instead of becoming satisfied once its initial breakthrough arrived against NU.

Arevalo Makes It Four Before Halftime

Judie Arevalo converted during the 45th minute after Kristine Dela Peña’s free kick created another dangerous Philippine attacking sequence. That goal sent FEU into halftime leading 4-0, effectively placing the match beyond NU without eliminating the Lady Tamaraws’ attacking intentions.

Assistant coach Fitch Arboleda explained afterward that FEU wanted players to continue seeking goals instead of relaxing after establishing separation. That mindset reflects a team measuring performances against its own standards rather than allowing the scoreboard alone to determine intensity.

“We don’t want na parang maging comfortable na score, we relax.”

Competitive Standards Remain High Despite Lead

Maintaining urgency during one-sided matches can help established teams avoid developing habits that become costly against stronger opponents. FEU’s challenge involves balancing that intensity with intelligent energy management during a demanding second-round schedule containing several matches close together.

Trinidad Completes Five-Goal Victory

NU improved defensively during the second half, preventing FEU from immediately extending its already commanding advantage after the interval. The Lady Tamaraws eventually broke through again during the 83rd minute when Tiffany Trinidad converted Jhoean Jalnaiz’s feed.

The final goal completed a 5-0 victory featuring five different FEU scorers, illustrating the attacking depth available across the lineup. Distributed production makes opponents’ defensive planning harder because danger does not originate exclusively from one dominant forward or creator.

Five Scorers Demonstrate FEU’s Attacking Depth

Teams become more difficult to contain when midfielders, forwards, and set-piece situations can all generate legitimate scoring threats. FEU demonstrated that variety Wednesday, reducing NU’s ability to neutralize the attack through attention toward any single player.

FEU Uses Rotation During Tight Second-Round Schedule

Arboleda also emphasized managing substitutions as FEU navigates the more compressed schedule awaiting teams during the second round. Maintaining player health becomes particularly important for a championship contender whose ambitions extend beyond accumulating regular-season victories.

Rotation can provide younger players valuable minutes while reducing unnecessary workload for established starters during matches FEU controls comfortably. Those benefits become meaningful later when decisive fixtures demand healthier legs and greater tactical flexibility across the available roster.

Depth Helps Protect Performance and Player Health

Championship races test entire rosters because injuries and fatigue rarely distribute themselves conveniently across a season. FEU’s ability to rotate without losing control could become increasingly important as fixtures accumulate and opponents become more difficult.

NU Shows Resilience Despite Short-Handed Roster

Arboleda praised NU’s players for continuing to compete despite injuries and a roster reduced to approximately 12 available players Wednesday. That shortage creates considerable difficulty because coaches possess almost no flexibility when fatigue or additional physical problems emerge during matches.

The Lady Bulldogs are newcomers to the competition, making their first season another developmental stage for the emerging program. Maintaining player welfare becomes especially important while NU builds the depth required to compete sustainably against established UAAP women’s football teams.

New Program Needs Depth Alongside Competitive Experience

Expansion benefits women’s football by creating additional opportunities, but new teams require enough players to navigate full competitive schedules safely. NU’s long-term progress depends upon recruitment and development alongside the resilience already demonstrated by its limited current roster.

Analytical Breakdown

FEU’s five different scorers demonstrate attacking depth that makes the defending contenders increasingly difficult to prepare against tactically. Rotation is equally important because protecting player health should matter more than maximizing margins during already comfortable victories. NU’s resilience deserves recognition, but building roster depth is essential if the newcomer intends to compete sustainably across full UAAP seasons.
