Petro Gazz defeated F2 Logistics with a scorching start in the third set of their match, which was characterized by a roller coaster of momentum swings in the second set. The Angels went on to win 25-22, 27-25, 25-14, and regained a shared lead ranking in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna on Thursday.
After building leads of as much as 23-13 on a Dzi Gervacio power hit against two F2 Logistics defenders, the Angels rode on the crest of their big windup in the tense frame, taking the first six points in the third and never letting the Cargo Movers recover.
That made it possible for the Angels to win four straight games without dropping a set as they defeated the Cargo Movers 2-2 in a tie with the Cignal HD Spikers.
With an incredible 11-point performance, Ranya Musa sealed the victory with the best player of the game award. Her outstanding play throughout the entire game contributed to the Angels’ ninety-two-minute victory.
“I can’t believe this is happening.” In Filipino, Musa stated, All I wanted was to be able to help and for the team to win.”
Coach Timmy Sto. Tomas celebrated his return to the Petro Gazz bench with a straight-set victory, commending Angels’ perseverance and collaboration.
He expressed happiness with the girls’ ability to hold their own, particularly in the second set. “We were up midway through but made some lapses. But they were able to catch up and lessen their errors.”
Adding, “They were really able to hold the team together especially in the stretch when we needed to score the points most.” he praised his veterans for their heads-up play and ability to keep the squad cohesive.
Jonah Sabete was perfect for the role, delivering two huge blows that fueled the Angels’ exciting triumph in the second set. The match included a lot of momentum swings, especially in the finish, that resulted in an extended.
Sabete contributed 11 points. The Angels outscored the Cargo Movers 28 to 46 attack points. Remy Palma and Grethcel Soltones scored nine points each. Aiza Maizo-Pontillas tallied six.
Jolina Dela Cruz led F2 Logistics in scoring with 13 points, while Ara Galang finished with six points, and Ivy Lacsina fought to get eight markers.
