The De La Salle Green Archers defeated the NU Bulldogs 97-73 on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City to advance to the UAAP Season 86 Men’s Basketball Championships for the first time in six years.
La Salle took a commanding lead over NU in the first half, giving the impression that they were in the game from the beginning.
The Green Archers dominated the Bulldogs offensively and defensively in the third quarter, outscoring them by 11 points to take a 20-point advantage into the fourth.
This turned out to be the deciding factor as La Salle advanced to their first finals since UAAP Season 80.
Mark Nonoy scored 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting to lead La Salle in their victory. Evan Nelle also contributed 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists.
The victory extended the Green Archers’ winning streak to nine games since the beginning of the second round.
The Fighting Maroons and the Green Archers will play a championship series for the first time in the UAAP on Wednesday, November 29.
