TNT, SMB remain spotless, advance to the quarterfinals
TNT Triple Giga and the San Miguel Beermen are still in the running for the title after the two teams won all of their games on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Pasay City earlier on Monday in the league’s Season 3 Second Conference Leg 4.
TNT won all games in Pool A, defeating Blackwater Smooth Razor 19-17 and Terrafirma Dyip 21-14. Blackwater’s victory over the Dyip, however, guaranteed that they would be the last team in their group to go to the quarterfinals.
The Beermen triumphed over the CAVITEX Braves, 22-17, Northport Batang Pier, 21-16, and Purefoods TJ Giants, 21-19, to secure the top spot in Pool B and advance to the quarterfinals.
The 2-1 Braves, who defeated Purefoods 21-18 and Northport 21-14, will join the Beermen. The team that wins tomorrow’s match between the TJ Giants and the Batang Pier will advance to the leg’s knockout quarterfinals as the final team in their group.
After topping Pool C, MCFASolver Tech Centrale, Pioneer ElastoSeal, and the Meralco Bolts have advanced to the next round.
Tech Centrale’s first loss came against Pioneer, 15-16, but their wins over the Bolts, 18-10, and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 19-14, helped move further in the tournament.
Pioneer finished the day unbeaten after defeating the Bolts 21-19. Following their play against the Gin Kings tomorrow, they are assured of a spot in the quarterfinals.
BGSM is now out of the running, regardless of tomorrow’s game, as the Bolts’ lone victory came against Ginebra, 19-16.
