Chef on a Diet-FEU Tamaraws defeated Alpha Omega in a 25-17, 25-18, and 25-12 victory, guaranteeing their place in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference at the Paco Arena on Friday, November 24, 2023.
Due to a significant lead in set ratio, the Tamaraws moved to 4-0 and are guaranteed to advance to the knockout stages even if they lose their match against Savouge RTU Basilan (3-1) next Friday.
In less than two sets played, Chad Absin—a transfer middle blocker from Ateneo—led FEU with 9 points, while Jelord Talisayan and Jomel Codilla each scored 7 points.
Alpha Omega made 30 errors, which further helped the Tamaraws in their victory. John Diwa and France Racaza both tallied 6 and 7 points in the losing effort.
In the other match, Cabuyao accomplished what four other teams were unable to: they defeated La Salle-EcoOil, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21, and 25-22, to secure first place in Pool B and a quarterfinal berth.
With 23 points and 25 excellent receptions, Joshua Ramilo led the Cabstars to a decisive victory. Jomar Soriano chipped in with 14 points and 8 excellent digs.
Michael Doria and Gab Magsino, the middle blockers, each scored 13 points, and Jerico Adajar recorded 27 excellent sets.
With 21 points, 17 attacks and 4 blocks, JM Ronquillo led the Green Oilers. Yoyong Mendoza and Noel Kampton scored 12 and 15.
